Our family has a tradition called "Movie Nights". We go either to the video store or the library and pick out a family friendly video. We then turn the lights down low, have a supper picnic in the living room, and watch a movie. We also have coke and sprite to drink and popcorn for a snack. The kids love this tradition because they get to stay up past their bedtime. They get to eat in the living room and watch TV while we eat (which we never do). This is an occasion that my kids love and work for. Movie Nights usually have to be earned with good behavior and extra chores. Ever so often we have a "Freebie Movie Night". Freebies are for no particularly good reason but are just a chanve to spend some time together.
Tonight we had a "Freebie Movie Night". We watched a Scooby Doo Movie, had tacos in the living room and enjoyed each others company. It is always fun to watch a movie with the kids and listen to their insights and perspective. Scooby Doo is particularly fun because the kids start trying to solve the mystery from the beginning of the movie. Ive said something today that I thought was very interesting.
Fred (in the movie): I feel a plan forming in my head.
Ive (replies for all of use to hear): I wonder if when he gets a plan he gets that same tingly feeling I get when I get a good idea?
I dont think I get tingly feelings when I have a good idea. Do you all?
I love the ways the brain of a child works! What a great description of the thinking process....!
