Adventures at the pool

We went to a hotel this week and got to enjoy the touristy experience of visiting Puerto Rico. One of the hightlights of the this short stay was the fact that the resort had about 5 very nice pools. They had wading pools and kid pools. Ive can swim a little bit. She still needs close supervision but she wore no kind of a flotation device. Samantha and Ezekiel both require a little bit of help. I bought for them a swim suit(it looks kind of like a surfers/scuba outfit) that incorporates a flotation device. It even has a ring around the neck that floats so the kids heads do not go underwater. It does require the kids be strong to hold their heads up and not panick if they flip over or lose their footing. It also requires the kids to be able to understand that if they flip or turn and their head is over water they need to not panick and not swallow water but just kick a little and it will flip it self over the right way. Samantha did well with it even though she was still a bit scared. She was not comfortable with me moving far away from her and stayed within arms reach the whole time. This was kind of different since Samantha is usually a little daredevil and she jumps first and looks second. Ezekiel on the other hand loved it! He was not scared at all and insisted I do not touch him or help him. He actually walked to the deeper end and then "swam on his own". I stayed closed by in case he happened to flip over or lose his balance but the few times that he did go under he closed his mouth and kicked until he flipped the right direction. When he did come out from under the water he was not scare but instead he laughed and said "I did bubbles". He was completely fearless. It was hard to keep an eye on Ive who was swimming off, while holding on to Samantha who wanted to be right by me and at the same time stay with Zeke who was working very hard at swimming in the opposite direction. Eventhough it was difficult at times it was so much fun. I am looking forward to Jake being here and enjoying all these fun times as a family.
