Looking back at 2008, it has been a good year. It has a been a year with not too many changes and with a lot of stability. A very good thing for us at this point in our life. The biggest thing that happened this year was we bought a house. A very exciting and very scary thing. It also means that we make a commitment to this area for atleast 2 years. The kids are all doing well in school and are enjoying their friends and their routines. Jake is doing well in the job and still enjoying it. I am enjoying my job but it has been very stressful this year. In the area of time, I am feeling frazzled and like we are spread to thin. We gave the kids a rule of one activity per child and we have stuck to it more or less. We are only doing tae kwon do, once a week on Saturday but we are doing Art Tag (Ive), Boys Scout (Zeke) and Piano (Samantha). I am also teaching a english class to parents on Friday nights (which Jake is helping with and the kids are enjoying some time with new friends in the kids watch area). That only leaves three free days a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays). This might change in the spring since Samantha will start Art Tag and Ive might start Music Tag (if she is selected since it is by audition only). I guess my resolutions for the new year are a continuation of the things I wanted to accomplish last year and just did not get around to it.
1. I want to make a point going to small groups at church (we have hard a very hard time coordinating the small groups that are for the whole family with our schedule).
2. Regularly have a family night each week (we started this sporadically last year and I want to make it more of a tradition).
3. Spend more time in prayer and devotions (especially through out the day when things get crazy and chaotic in my classroom need to stop and pray to know how best to deal with everything going on).
4. Pray and seek God's help in declutter our schedule so that I have time to do resolutions 1,2 and 3.
Of course there are always the ever going do more exercise and eat healthier but I consider that more of a life style that a resolution. Still I will work on those more this year.
