My family seems to have a love affair with stories and anecdotes. The kids love it when we talk to them about funny things that happened in our childhood. Grandma Sally (Jake's mom) is always willing to tell them stories of when she grew up or when her parents were young. The kids love these stories. They talk about their great uncles and great grandparents when they were young like they knew them. They will repeat and recite the stories in unison to anyone that will hear.
One of my favorite stories is the time that Grandpa Jake (Jake's grandpa whose real name was Edward) jump out of the window in his classroom at school and landed on the principal. Jake will make up stories in bed for the kids. There is one about Hans who worked at a bake shop and also a very odd variation of the three little pigs with all sort of silliness in it. My kids also enjoy reading stories and writing stories. Ive is quite an accomplished author who writes stories constantly. She writes about dragons, dogs, kids, greek mythology,etc... She will also illustrate her stories. I truly enjoy reading and hearing the stories that they create. I will try one of these days to copy one of Jake's stories and one of Ive's stories so that you all can read them. It is truly impressive what their imagination can come up with.
