What we do for fun!

When we first moved here it was hard because we went from a big city (Austin, TX) to a small town (Emporia, VA). I was extremely bored the first couple of months we were here. There was no malls, only a small park, the Y's facilities consist of a weight room and 2 plain exercise rooms, no bowling alleys, no movie theaters. With time we have gotten creative and have come up with many activities to do in the area. We have gone geocaching in Roanoke Rapids, NC (about 25 min away) with some friends.

We have gone bike riding and for picnics in the state park (about 45 min away). We have gone to the children's museum in richmond and newport news (each about 1 hour away). We have gone to the nature preserve and have gone fishing. We are becoming quite an outdorsy family (if not by natural preference then by force of location.
