This was our first week at the kids new school. Ivelisse is in 2nd grade at Jefferson Elementary. Samantha is in Kindergarden at Jefferson Elementary. Zeke is going to Monumental Day care at a church in town. It is quite a change from our upper middle class school and daycare that they were attending in Texas. Samantha and Ezekiel have adjusted well and are enjoying the new environment. Samantha has been placed in the advance reading level for her class which is pretty cool since she is by far the youngest in her class. It has been a blessing for her to be allowed to continue her Kindergarden year instead of going back to PK. Ivelisse on the other hand is having a hard time adjusting. She misses her old school and she has not had a very good attitude about the new school. The main thing that she is upset about is that there is no recess at this school. They have a break for lunch and a break for specials (library, PE, art or music) but no outside playing time. I do not agree with the kids having no break but that is the way it is in this area. Some schools have recess scheduled and others dont. In Texas it was required taht students have a certain amount of play time each day.
I am getting ready to start work on Monday (feb. 27). I am excited but also kind of apprehensive since I have to drive to different schools and still be there to pick up the girls close to the end of their day. I will feel a lot better when Jake is here and he can help out with the kids and the schedule. Please pray for us as the kids and I get used to all these new changes and transitions. Pray that my driving around wont be a problem with the kids and the scheduling. I'll keep it all updated so that you all know how things are going.

Good luck Carmen!
No recess, yuck...that's too bad. I guess you better join the PTA and start making some noise for it.
